


The Dyfi and District Association for Wildfowling and Conservation (DDAWC), was formally known as the Dyfi and District Wildfowlers Association (DDWA). The original club was founded on the 16 December 1965, with the founding meeting held at the Wynstay Arms Hotel Machynlleth.
Wildfowling has been carried out on the Dyfi Estuary along time before the formation of the club
The DDAWC have been active on the Dyfi estuary for many years with wildfowling and conservation work. There was a large number of Greenland White Fronted geese on the estuary but during the winter of 1963 many died from the conditions. Numbers dropped to around 50 birds that came and over wintered on the Dyfi.

For several years the DDAWC collected rubbish in conjunction with the “Keep Wales Tidy” scheme and helped to make the estuary cleaner.
DDAWC helps BASC by putting on a wildfowling display at some of the game fairs held around the Midlands and Mid Wales, there members of the public can talk and get advice on wildfowl and wildfowling in general.
The Dyfi estuary is a tidal estuary and therefore has to be respected when wildfowling as it can be very easy to get into difficulties.
Wildfowling on the estuary is by permit only. Day permits are available through BASC Wales office.
